A coaching client recently came to me feeling stuck.
He was no longer happy at his current job.
But he had no idea what was next.
When I asked what he’d considered, he gave me a full-on career crisis buffet:
“I’ve thought about becoming a lawyer.”
“Or maybe a graphic designer.”
“Or maybe starting a real estate company.”
All great options. All completely different.
I hear this more than you’d think.
My clients come to me with 5 different dreams — and 0 idea which one to chase.
It always leads to the same question: “Jenny, how do I figure out what’s next???”
The Problem
Knowing you want change is easy.
Knowing what to change into? That’s harder.
It’s easy to get stuck in thought spirals:
- “What if I pick the wrong thing?”
- “What if I’m not qualified?”
- “What if I commit — and then change my mind?”
- “What if I can’t make any money doing it?”
You tell yourself, “I’ll know it when I see it.”
But you won’t.
Because action — not thinking — provides clarity.
The Big Small Thing: Find Your “Mini Leap Zone”
You don’t need a perfect plan.
You just need a process that moves you from idea overload to intentional action.
It’s time to find your “Mini Leap Zone.” Do this:
Step 1: Grab a sheet of paper and draw 3 circles.
(Yes, Venn diagram style!)
Then label each one: “Thrill,” “Skill,” and “Bill.”
Step 2: In each circle, write your answers to these questions:
Thrill = What excites you
- What gives you that can’t-not-do-it buzz?
- What topics or projects light you up?
- If money didn’t matter, what would you do just for the joy of it?
Skill = What you’re great at
- What are you low-key amazing at?
- What do people constantly ask you for help with?
- Think beyond job titles. Are you great at distilling complex info? Reading a room? Pitching ideas? Getting buy-in?
Bill = What people pay for
- What problems do people pay to solve?
- What services or skills are in demand right now? (Scan LinkedIn. Browse job boards. Ask ChatGPT.)
- Could your expertise be valuable if packaged differently?
Step 3: Spot the overlap.
Look for the common themes that show up in all 3 circles.
That sweet spot in the middle? That’s your “Mini Leap Zone.”

It’s not your forever job. Not your life’s purpose.
Just your next smart experiment.
(Think of it as Ikigai’s no-nonsense cousin.)
How This Helps You Get What You Want
Once you spot a theme across all 3 columns, it’s way easier to take action.
