How often do you share your wins with your manager?
If you’re like most people, probably not as much as you should.
It can feel a little awkward, like you’re walking the fine line between “Look what I did!” and “I swear I’m not a show-off!” 😳
But here’s the thing:
Keeping your accomplishments to yourself won’t get you the recognition you deserve. And it’s bad for your career growth.
The good news?
There’s a simple, low-pressure way to keep your manager in the loop without feeling like you’re showing off.
👉 The Problem
We often think our managers have a sixth sense for all our hard work.
Spoiler: they don’t. They’re just as swamped as you are.
So if you’re not sharing your wins, they’re probably flying under the radar.
And if no one sees your impact, how will you get recognized or considered for that next big opportunity?
Self-promotion doesn’t have to be cringey.
It can be smooth and effective—with the right approach.
👉 The Big Small Thing
Every Monday morning, send a “Shameless* Monday Email.”
(Note: This below script is from my upcoming book, WILD COURAGE: Go After What You Want and Get It. In the “Shameless” chapter, I dive into the courage it takes to stand confidently behind your hard work and abilities. This helps you curb impostor syndrome.)
This isn’t a productivity report. It’s a chance to show the value you bring to the table.
The best part? You’re not bragging. You’re simply keeping your manager in the loop. And trust me, they’ll appreciate it!
Plus, writing this email shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes from your Monday morning.
In this email, outline:
1️⃣ Your accomplishments from last week (both objective and subjective).
2️⃣ Your priorities for the week ahead.
Be specific, and don’t be afraid to use proud language. You worked hard—own it!
Here’s an email script you can use:
Subject: Weekly Check-In: Last Week’s Wins & This Week’s Focus
Hi [Manager’s Name],
Here’s a quick update on my work from last week and what’s on my radar for this week.
Last week’s highlights:
This week’s priorities:
Excited to chat more about all this in our one-on-one.
Jenny
Why this works:
👉 How This Helps You Chase What You Want
Your Shameless Monday Email is your weekly highlight reel.
You’re showing off your consistency, value, and hard work—without waiting for someone else to notice.
And when promotion or raise season rolls around, guess what?
Your manager already has a front-row seat to all the awesome things you’ve done. No more awkward scrambling to prove your worth.
So, don’t let that little voice in your head (the one that says, “Don’t be that person”) stop you from sharing.
Your work deserves the spotlight. Show it in your Shameless Monday Email.
Let’s do this,
Jenny
